GET OUT on the Water

"My favorite place to be is on the water! I am often asked what my favorite water activity is, and I really can’t choose. I’ve canoed and used a rowboat for as long as I can remember. As an adult, I discovered the joys of kayaks and motorboats. Most recently I’ve added stand up paddle boarding (SUPS) to my water adventures. I love that I can carry a lot of gear (or snacks!) in my canoe or tandem kayak. That’s great for when I want my camera and notebooks to collect data on the activity of common loons. SUPs are great because you can see down into the water.  And that only covers the summer months! There’s also snowshoeing, sledding, etc. I enjoy all seasons on the water.”

Getting Started

Each water activity will begin with a brief lesson and safety talk. If you’ve never paddled before we will practice a bit on land before hitting the water. We will travel as a close group as we look for wildlife and talk about how to protect lakes and animals. We will see islands, practice our skills at IDing water markers, take pictures, and have a snack . If we are lucky, we’ll see float planes landing or taking off.

GET OUT on the Water in TANDEM KAYAKS

I have a flotilla of six tandem kayaks, each named after animals that have been seen here on Little Sebago Lake. Tandem kayaks are known for their safety, stability, comfort and ease of use. They are great for paddling with kids or adults and provide a communal experience by encouraging teamwork with one another and as a move together as a group.  My tandem kayaks have large cockpit areas with substantial seat and back support. There is room for all of your stuff with quick & easy access. Although both paddlers typically paddle, tandems give you the opportunity to take turns which is great if someone is tired or wants to take pictures of scenery or wildlife.

GET OUT on the Water on STAND UP PADLE (SUP) BOARDS

I have 2 hard (vs inflatable) paddle boards for your use on a guided tour. I love how easy it is to look all around the lake while standing up on the water, plus you’ll get a wicked workout! When you paddle on a SUP you’ll be using muscles in your arms, legs & core. If you’ve never done it before, the lake is a great place to begin.
